Fantasy Football – The Real Thing
Jon Reeson of Bedford in the UK, one of the recent champions in the Barclays Premier League Fantasy Football, beat 2.3 million others to win this famous competition.
It is meant to be as realistic as possible with January transfers included.
Rule Changes
Jon said "Previously, players had only one chance all season to make big changes. This gives people the chance to switch things around if they make a bad start but with the security of knowing they can still sign plenty of new players in the New Year.
"It should make the game even better although it is already excellent. It is easy to see why it is the world's biggest fantasy football game and, in my opinion, the best.
"It is not just the fact it is free - although that is a big bonus. It is the fact it is so well set up and it has evolved so well. The transfer values are spot on to the point where there are many occasions where you are just 0.1m short. It can be so frustrating - but that is also part of the skill and the fun."
Reeson still finds it hard to believe he beat so many other managers to top the Fantasy Premier League, winning a VIP trip to a Barclays Premier League match, hotel accommodation and £250 spending money.
He added: "I was top for the whole of the last three months of the season so the pressure was on me going into the final gameweek even though I had more points than anyone else.
"I hardly slept the night before the deadline as I thought about every decision to make sure I did not mess it up.
"But it all went well and I was thrilled when the points were confirmed and I saw my name still at the top.
"It feels quite strange to know I beat almost two and a half million people across the globe. But after leading for so long, it was more a feeling of relief than anything else.
"I ended up getting quite a lot of attention on various internet forums where people were talking about me. One person even pretended to be me and was giving people advice so in the end I had to register for the forum and tell people what was going on. He disappeared quite soon afterwards."
Extra Research
So what are the secrets of success for the real Jon Reeson?
He said: "I have been playing this game for years and I stick to the same formula consistently.
"I get cheap defenders and goalkeepers and I move them around according to their club fixtures and I save my money for the big-name players I really want such as Robin van Persie, Sergio Aguero and Eden Hazard.
"I had van Persie as captain most weeks and I was fortunate that the weeks I changed him were usually the ones where he had a low score and the person I picked in his place seemed to do well.”
Jon, a West Ham fan said “I always try to avoid picking Steven Gerrard. He is a great player but I have not forgiven him for almost single-handedly helping Liverpool beat West Ham in the 2006 FA Cup final." Well, that game was definitely reality!

In the text, Jon used some adverbs to say how he did things. Look at these examples and think how adverbs modify other words.
I hardly slept the night before the deadline.
Reeson still finds it hard to believe he beat so many other managers
The adverbs in the examples are changing, or modifying the meaning of the underlined verbs and adjectives but they all explain ‘how’ we do something or ‘how’ we feel.

Sentence Adverbs
Jon said he sticks to the same formula consistently, which means he always uses the same process when choosing players for his team. ‘Consistently’ is a sentence adverb. Sentence adverbs are a great way of saying how we feel about something. They usually go at the beginning or at the end of a sentence:
Luckily, we got there on time.
We missed the train, unfortunately.

Actually we have a different kind of fantasy football in Brazil. It's called "Cartola FC" and a player is able to change his team every round. It makes easier to correct some paths and recover from a poor week. I think the best goalkeeper is from a team that will probablly conceed many chances to their opponents, but not conceed goals! As well for the defensive line. To the midfielders, I prefer to have on field players that are used to finish a lot, assist a lot or even scoring goals. And for a striker: a player who creates many chances to his team, for sure. That has a strong goals average.

I started playing it since 2015 but this year I have lots of bad luck unfortunately :( hopefully next season , my luck and concentration become better.
I like to pick cheap defenders and goalkeepers to save money for Mohamed Salah , Kevin De Bruyne , Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford.

My advice is to exclude Mirallas and Deulofeu(one of them will play and we don't know who?). My advice to you is to choose between Lukaku(first option) and Baines (second option, he is in good form again). What you think about buying Naismith? You certainly know that he is transferred from Everton to Norwich.

He is certainly good player but his playing isn't consistent(constant). He has played better at home(25 pts. against Norwich and 14 pts. against Liverpool) but that can't be watch as rule (Leicester(2 pts.), Watford-2 pts. ). His price is again £7.0 after decrease. But to bring a conclusion about your last investment: Premier League is unpredictable but something tells me that you did the right thing.

I'm not sure for investing in Chelsea's defenders from one reason, Mourinho is unpredictable whose gonna start the game(I mean on defenders at this time). I think that's now is the best time for buying Hazard(if you haven't had him yet). Maybe you could take a risk and replace Kane for Ighalo or Troy Deeney and give one of them captain armband. You are absolutely right - the Special One is very unpredictable. But following back-to-back clean sheets and considering three home fixtures (BOU, SUN, WAT) in the next four I was thinking Kurt Zouma would be a good option. He has started all but one of the last 12 league matches, and looks to be a permanent fixture in the Blues defence. As for Hazard: after his splendid performance at the White Hart Lane and with a good run of fixtures, he is definitely on my radar, even though Willian is much cheaper option. Talking about Kane I recollect when last season I benched him for the away fixture vs West Brom (famous for its solid defence) and he earned 15 points or something) I'm a little bit afraid of falling into the same trap. And IMHO Norwich could surprise Watford. My team value is 101.8 and I have 1.9 in the bank (1 free transfer). By the way, do you use any scout resources to help you with your decision-making? There is a good web site http://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk you probably know about. Nice tips, considerations and a very good vocabulary!

You have enough money to buy expensive players my friend :) I sold Kane, maybe I will fall into the trap? I bought Kurt Zouma, I hope that Jose will put him in the first squad. Also I bought Martial and Giroud(I have made him captain because Sánchez will be absent and I think that Ozil will feed him with assists ). Norwich have made surprise last weekend and IMHO I think that they will lose in the match against Watford. Silva is back, what you think about that and when is best time for buying him? I know, that's great site, I have found a lot of useful tips there.
