Welcome to Lesson 6 in Activity Week - Health & Fitness.

The content of this lesson is linked to the podcast you listened to in lesson three and the language you learned in lessons four and five:

Learning Vocabulary - How fit are you?

In lesson four, Rich spoke about fitness and in lesson five, Jack spoke about diet and the lessons introduced lots of words and phrases about these topics. This task is your chance to use the language you have learned to give your opinion about the following situation:

What do I need to do?

In this discussion task, we would like you to do three things: 

  1. Read the article and look at the words in red. Think about what these words mean.
  2. Do the quiz at the end of the article. This quiz checks your understanding of the words in red in the article.
  3. Discuss the situation and say what the coach should do and what the players should do.

The Situation

You are the coach!

It's the start of pre-season training and after some light training, you can see that some of your players have come back out of shape. They are overweight and unfit! You have one month until the start of the season. They need to start eating in the right way and they need to build their fitness. You need to design a training plan for these players. 

What would you do if your players returned to pre-season training overweight?

If in this situation I was the coach, I would implement a diet healthy, low in sugar and carbohydrates, full of vegetables that will help the body to make a detox, fruits that will give them energy and recommend a lot of water.

if I were a trainer I had to recommend a healthy diet for my players I would give them the following diet first for breakfast I would recommend a little milk whole grains chopped fruits or a red fruit smoothie with a small integral sandwich for lunch they could eat roasted breast pesacdo or pasta each of these dishes would have to be accompanied with salad
and for dinner my players could eat a bit of whole grains or boiled eggs

I think that this is a great diet so that a player is in good physical condition also so that he can increase his physical performance

if I were a trainer I had to recommend a healthy diet for my players I would give them the following diet first for breakfast I would recommend a little milk whole grains chopped fruits or a red fruit smoothie with a small integral sandwich for lunch they could eat roasted breast pesacdo or pasta each of these dishes would have to be accompanied with salad
and for dinner my players could eat a bit of whole grains or boiled eggs

I think that this is a great diet so that a player is in good physical condition also so that he can increase his physical performance

They need a lot of vegetables and fruits since these will give them energy to be able to withstand the physical training they will have to undergo to get back in shape.

I would propose a training that would increase his demand with the days, he would initiate with no complex exercises so that they began to recover his physical state and then he would make them more complex so that they can realize them.

They should eat 5 days every day, 5 portions of fruit, no fats, vegetables,...
They should do a lot of abdominals, flexions, a lot of physical exercise to loose weight andgain muscles.
