Five Picture Match Report
Five Picture Match Report
This is a writing activity which is designed to get students using vocabulary in a longer text. Students take five images and then have to write a match report based around the words and images.
Preparation
Download copies of the phonemic charts.
Cut up the pictures so that you have a number of cards each with a word and image on. make sure you have enough for each group to have five cards.
Procedure
Put students into pairs or small groups.
Put all of the image / word cards face down on the floor or a table and mix them up.
Get one person from each group to come and take five random cards.
Now tell the students that using the five cards they have to write a short imaginary match report including all five words.
Give the students time to work on their reports and monitor and help them when they need it.
Once they have completed their match reports, ask them to swap reports with another group. Now they should read the match reports and try to find ways to improve them.
Once they have had a few moments to read through and improve, tell them to give the reports back to the original writers.
You can then get them to make a neat copy and pin the reports around the room. Students can then go round and read the other reports and choose the one they think is best (they can’t choose their own).
Once they have voted on the best one, take the short reports in a mark them yourself and write some feedback for your students.
Over to you: Tell us what you think
