Introduction to week 3 of the World Cup Community Programme
Welcome to week 3
Absolutely fantastic! Another week of great games, great goals and shock results at Russia 2018. Messi's Argentina, Ronaldo's Portugal and Germany have all gone home, and in one of the biggest-ever World Cup shocks, Russia beat Spain, the 2010 Champions, in a penalty shootout. Can the hosts go all the way?
We're currently in the last-16 and by the end of this week, we will know the semi-finals of the World Cup. Who do you think will make the last four?
This is the third week in a four-week programme designed around the World Cup and English. Each week, we have lessons for you to complete that will teach you about the countries that are competing, the language you need when watching the match and special grammar and vocabulary related to the World Cup.
In week 3, the first lesson is the World Cup WebQuest. Each week, we’re taking eight countries and you have to answer some tough questions based on the information in our country profiles. This week you'll be travelling to Denmark, Mexico, Poland, Egypt, Portugal, Serbia, England, and Germany but not necessarily in that order.
We have two football shout-out lessons. The topics are missing chances and losing. What do fans shout at the TV when players miss a chance and what do they shout when their team is losing. Following this, we have this week's podcast. The topic this week is grammar with a specific focus on conditionals. We finish the week with a quiz for you to show that you have understood all the language that we look at this week.

All this has been a somewhat difficult process for me, since I do not have much facility with this language; but during the week 1 and 2 I have learned a lot and I am ready and excited to start the 3, keep learning about all those beautiful countries and learning this beautiful language.

Personally I think they should be more specific with some data they give to be able to answer the test questions properly. I would like to have more clarity in what they explain to us, although if I have understood most of the topics I have had a bit of trouble understanding others.
