Rich: Hello my name’s Rich and welcome to our Monday round-up section on Premier Skills English.
Jack: Hi everyone. I’m Jack. Every Monday, we discuss last weekend’s action, the best players, the best matches, Fantasy Football, and make some predictions for next weekend.
Rich: We want you to practise your English and interact with Premier League fans from around the world in our comments section.
Jack: You can do this on the Premier Skills English website or the Premier Skills-British Council Facebook page - if that’s where you are listening to us.
Rich: Let’s get on with this week’s round up!
Headlines
Rich: Liverpool thrash Arsenal at Anfield.
Jack: Liverpool beat Arsenal 4-0 in last weekend’s big game. Liverpool were fantastic and Arsenal poor as goals from Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Daniel Sturridge gave the Reds a convincing win.
Rich: United are the only team with a 100% record.
Jack: After 3 Premier League matches, Manchester United are the only team that have won all their games. United beat Leicester 2-0 at Old Trafford. Marcus Rashford and Marouane Fellaini got the goals that gives Mourinho’s men a two-point cushion at the top of the table.
Rich: City leave it late to claim all three points.
Jack: Manchester City won 2-1 at Bournemouth but had to wait until the 97th minute for their winning goal. It was an exciting end to the match with City’s Raheem Sterling scoring late and then getting sent off for his goal celebrations.
Rich: Another brilliant weekend of Premier League matches. Are we going to talk about the Liverpool-Arsenal match?
Jack: No, it’s still too early for me. I was very disappointed. Arsenal didn’t play well but credit to Liverpool, they were very, very good.
Rich: OK, I won’t rub it in - I won’t keep reminding you of the score. I promise!
Jack: What about that City - Bournemouth match?
Rich: An amazing finish to the match. I can’t remember the last time a player got sent off for celebrating a goal.
Jack: Me neither. City were lucky in the end. Did you see Bournemouth's goal? That has to be the goal of the season so far …
Rich: Yes, a brilliant half-volley from outside the box. The goal scorer was Charlie Daniels and if you haven’t seen it you really need to take a look.
Matchweek Awards
Rich: Right, every Monday, we give out three Matchweek Awards: Player of the week, Team of the week and Match of the week.
Jack: In the comments section, you need to tell us if you agree with our choices …
Rich: Last week, not all of you agreed with our choices.
Jack: Hasan from Palestine thought Paul Pogba rather than Marcus Alonso should have been our player of the week.
Rich: And quite a few of you chose Chelsea rather than Manchester Utd as the team of the week and Chelsea-Spurs rather than Southampton-West Ham as the match of the week.
Jack: Italy96, Javi from Spain and Sumia Omar from Sudan disagreed with our choices. What about this week, Rich?
Rich: So many to choose from again … Cesc Fabregas was excellent for Chelsea in their 2-0 win against Everton, Kevin De Bruyne was brilliant for Manchester City and Matt Ritchie looked good for Newcastle as the Magpies got their first win of the season - 3-0 against West Ham.
Jack: But we can only choose one and our Matchweek 3 Player of the week award goes to … (drumroll?) Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah.
Rich: Liverpool’s new Egyptian was excellent against Arsenal, but to be honest, Roberto Firmino and Emre Can all had excellent games for the Reds.
Jack: Our next award is for team of the week …Newcastle, Swansea and Chelsea all had good wins and Manchester Utd are top of the table but …
Rich: Our Matchweek 3 Team of the week goes to … (drumroll?) Liverpool for their 4-0 destruction of Arsenal.
Jack: Yes, they were very, very good. I thought we weren’t going to talk about that again?
Rich: OK, I won’t. Our third and final award is for the match of the week. Our match of the weekend is Bournemouth 1-2 Manchester City.
Jack: It had a brilliant goal and a fantastic finish. Everything you want in a Premier League match.
Fantasy Football
Rich: What’s been happening in fantasy football this week, Jack?
Jack: The top scoring player was the Newcastle defender Ciaran Clark with 15 points. Congratulations if you had him in your team. I bet not many of you did!
Rich: In the Premier Skills League, the Premier Skills team is in 5th place. Not bad. We put Watford’s Richarlison in the team after RafaelRC from Brazil recommended him. If you have any tips or recommendations for the Premier Skills team put them in the comments section below.
Jack: Who’s this week’s Fantasy Premier Skills team of the week.
Rich: The Premier Skills Fantasy Premier League Team of the Week for Matchweek 3 is La Kapla Jink which is managed by Mohammad Fakhrul from Malaysia (clapping) He scored 73 points and has gone up to fourth place the Premier Skills league!
Jack: Another winner from Malaysia. That’s two in a row!
Matchweek Prediction
Jack: Last week’s prediction was Liverpool v Arsenal. You thought Liverpool would win - good prediction, Rich. Some of our listeners also predicted a Liverpool win. Sumia Omar from Sudan, Milos from Serbia, Javi from Spain, Hasan from Palestine, and Alex from Ukraine. Well done to all of you!
Rich: This weekend there is a break for international matches so our prediction is for the weekend of the 8th and 9th of September.
Jack: Which match are you going to look at, RIch?
Rich: The big match has to be Liverpool again. This time it’s against MAnchester City in Manchester. Both teams have identical records from the first three matches - two wins and one draw. However, Liverpool have been looking very good in attack and City have been finding it difficult to find the back of the net. With players like Sergio Aguero, Gabriel Jesus I don’t think this will continue for long. I think this will be a very open and exciting match. My prediction is a final score of Manchester City 2-2 Liverpool.
Jack: It will be a good match - I’m sure. 2-1 to City for me.
Rich: We’ll see … we want you to make your predictions at the bottom of the page on the website. Are you a good predictor?
Jack: Right, that’s all we have time for. I hope you have enjoyed this Monday round-up. We will be back on the 11th of September after the international break. Don’t forget to join the discussion at the bottom of this page.
Rich: Bye for now and enjoy your football.

• This country should be credited for winning World Cup trophy. Initially they weren.t shown as favourite team.
Note
• In my opinion, the phrase "Convincing win" describes view of commentator. Indeed this game isn't needed to play very well for winning. Scoring by using an opportunity that resulted opponent's fault also provide win.

Good evening my friends,
This weekend I couldn't watch any image, buy I saw the results of all matches and read who scored the goals.
Without watch the matches, I think Liverpool have to win all awards in this matchweek3. They destroyed Arsenal, and this isn't an easy task normally.
For the next prediction, I will trust in Liverpool again. 2-1 for the reds.
See you and have a nice week.

Hi Javi
I would probably have chosen Liverpool for all three of the awards, but, being a Liverpool fan, I thought this might have been a bit much!!! I hope your prediction is a good one .

1. Very good match for Salah with his speedy runs and on ground shots.
2. The Reds deserve the team of the third week title. Congratulations for them after the Europa League qualifier.
3. I can only agree with the choice as I have only seen two matches.
4. I predict the winner for the Blues even if the last days on transfer windows would impact those two teams.

Hi Elghoul
You're right that Liverpool deserve even more credit as they had had a difficult European match just a few days before the Arsenal match. Today is transfer deadline day! Let's see what happens!

Firmino would be a great choice for fantasy football. I've already got Sadio Mane so I don't want to have both of them in my side. In attack, I have Lukaku, Kane and Aguero but that means I have less money for the rest of the team, Maybe Aguero > Firmino .... not sure

Another great week of PL fixtures!
Almost every single week there's a big game to enjoy. A thing (1) you could only see in the Premier League!
As for the awards, yes, Salah was brilliant, but I think Mane played superbly and he deserves to be the player of the week.
Liverpool were absolutely devastating and the game was so one-sided from start to finish!
I would love to hear from our teacher, Jack. What's wrong with the Gunners, Jack? If you don't mind the question.
Now, for the game of the week, I have no say on this since I have only watched (2) Liverpool vs Arsenal
Finally, my prediction for this week's head-to-head clash, I'm going to stick with my way of predicting games until I earn at least a point. Simply, if I'm not sure who will win, I easily (3) go for a draw! So, I'm going for another one here, 2-2. Hope to earn my first point!

Hi Ahmed Adam
I've mentioned the result to Jack a few times but he doesn't want to talk about it. I have no idea why!!! I've highlighted a couple of things for you to correct but other than this you are using some fantastic language in your message. The only other thing to note is that you should try to write in paragraphs a bit more. Your first five sentences could be one paragraph and the next four sentences another paragraph.
Let me know when you've corrected what I've highlighted.

I think he's heartbroken from that terrible defeat suffered against your team. Let's all hope for an Arsenal win in the upcoming fixture to ease the pain!

3- I just go for a draw
Going forward, I'll be writing in paragraphs!

I tottaly agree that liverpool was the team of the week 3, but I think that Emre Can performed better tham Mohamed Salah despite I like the last player.
I agree that Bournemouth VS Manchester City was the best game of the week 3.
I think that Liverpool will destroy Manchester City in the week 4 as they did against Arsenal.
I think that liverpool will play this season to win Premier League title.
