Kasper helps Leicester win away!

Schmeichel flying through the air.Leicester City won away from home for the first time in nearly a year as the Foxes beat West Ham 3-2 at the London Stadium. Leicester played like champions as goals from Riyad Mahrez, Robert Huth and Jamie Vardy put them into a  3-1 lead at half-time. But, it was Kasper Schmeichel that came to the team's rescue in the end. In the second half, West Ham reduced the deficit through Andre Ayew and were pressing for an equaliser. Andy Carroll had two great chances to equalise but Schmeichel stopped them both with two sensational saves. The first save was from a Carroll header which Schmeichel managed to save while falling behind the goal line. The second, in the third minute of injury time, was even better. Carroll hit a volley from close-range and Schmiechel dived to his right and managed to save. This performance came after two great performances against Sevilla in the Champions League. He saved a penalty in both legs! Is Schmeichel the best goalkeeper in the Premier League?

"Kasper had to make some special saves. My heart was in my mouth at times." Leicester City's new manager, Craig Shakespeare.

Who is Kasper Schmeichel?

Schmeichel and Mahrez are two of Leicester's star performers.Kasper Peter Schmeichel was born in November 1986, in Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark. His dad is the Manchester Utd legend, Peter Schmeichel, who won the Premier League title five times and also the Champions League. His dad has said that he never pushed his son into football and he never told him to become a goalkeeper. Kasper joined Manchester City as a schoolboy while his dad was playing for the club in 2002. He signed his first professional contract in 2005, and was sent on loan to a number of clubs in England and Scotland to get experience. He made his Premier League debut in 2007/08, but only played eight times before he moved to Notts County in 2009. Following a season in League Two with County, Schmeichel moved to Leeds Utd in the Championship, before moving to Leicester City, who at that time were also in the Championship. Schmeichel was named Leicester's player of the season in 2011/12 and was named in the Championship team of the season in 2012/13 and 2013/14, when the club was promoted to the Premier League. Last season, Schmeichel helped Leicester avoid relegation and he has been a crucial part of Leicester's surprise success this season.

"I think that Kasper is as good as Peter was. The difference is that Peter was the world's best goalkeeper, Kasper isn't, but football has evolved." Erik Thorstvedt, ex-Tottenham goalkeeper.

Like father, like son?

Peter and Kasper Schmeichel. In the next few days, Kasper Schmeichel could follow in his father’s footsteps by becoming a Premier League title winner. There haven't been many father and son combinations that have played in the Premier League. Steve Bruce was the captain of Manchester Utd in the 1990s and won the Premier League three times. His son, Alex, has played Premier League football for Birmingham City and Hull City. Gus Poyet played over 200 matches for Chelsea and Tottenham and helped the former win both the FA Cup and UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup. His son, Diego is on the books at West Ham and has played three times in the Premier League. The only father and son to both win the Premier League is Ian Wright who won the Premier League with Arsenal in 1997/98 and his son, Shaun, who won it with Chelsea in 2005/06. Will the Schmeichels become the second father and son to win the Premier League this weekend?

"I am proud and think Kasper has done really well. But I would have been proud of anything he did. Just because football is high profile and people follow it, it doesn’t make it a better thing."  Peter Schmeichel, Manchester Utd legend and Kasper's dad.

Is Kasper Schmeichel the best goalkeeper in the Premier League?

I think it's more difficult because fans will always compare between him and his dad's success.

Schmeichel is on the way to become the best goalkeeper in my opinion.
It is more difficult for a football who has a famous father.
Chaouchi the goalkeeper of Algiers Mouloudia and previous one in National is the son of the goalkeeper of Bordj menail in the seventies and even for some matches for the Algerian team.

I know some people who continued the family tradition and have chosen the same occupation as their parents. I guess that's good thing if you like to do that job so they can help you a lot with their experience. Also, you can be one step ahead of other students since you memorize great knowledge in practise before you even specialise in smth. In sport it is very different and doesn't guarantee anything at all. So, I think that sport related families make huge efforts to make big achievements.

Having a famous father certainly has its pros and cons. Like, famous father can help you with his advices so you could avoid making commonly made mistakes but at the end it is up to you to achieve smth.in football carreer. It can be really hard to make big success when others make plans instead of you.

Both Kasper and Cech are brilliant but Kasper deserves to win this award for he was on the goal all season long and ensured 7 clean sheets in last 9 matches which is a stunning achievement.

I think that Petr Cech is best goalkeeper in the Premier league because he shows many super saves and stability than other goalkeeper.
Footballer who has famous father feel more difficult because of comparison with his father.
I think that commonly activity and thinking and dream of children are affected to their parents.
