Learning a foreign language open a window to meet another society's lifestyle, religion and traditions etc. In digital age no need to go abroad. Plenty of sources are in the internet. I've been learning Arabic too in these day beside English.I'm very surprised that lots of Turkish words that used in daily conversations are originated from Arabic.

Hi Dear Jack, thank you so much.Earthquake happened in the southeast region of my country as well as hitting some Middleeast countries. Unfortunately the number of death and injured people are increasing. I beg Allah (god) to protect all human being from pain like this. It's appreciated that all countries included U.K. offered help to search and rescue. Bye.

Different styles in learning are helpful because people learn in different ways including visual and auditory.
I think the best way is to listen first then try to speak.
After that you start reading some simple books and write about them.

Do you agree with the speakers? Why / Why not?
1. I agree with the most of the speakers, except Valentini. If you learn new language, dictionary and grammar rules don`t help to get better result. It takes more time and when you use them in sentences you would make many mistakes. People learn grammar rules and many new words at school. But the most of all can`t communicate with people. Because words are expressed with different ways in different languages.
What are your experiences of learning English (or another language)?
2. I am teacher and actually I use dictionary and grammar at school. But to improve my listening and speaking skills I watch news, movies, communicate with native speakers. I also read newspaper or different kind of books in English.
What worked and what didn't work for you?
3. All of them worked. Because I used the methods what I enjoyed

I think you should surround yourself in English. Put yourself in an all English speaking environment, then create an atmosphere in which you want to learn. After all, the most natural way to learn grammar is through talking.

I think there are lots of ways of learning English. You may practice only by speaking to a English-speaking person every day or some days a week at least.Because it's very important to hear the sound of this language not only to learn it by reading books and listening CD-s. Besides of all you must know the English music culture at least. You have to love listening English songs and to know English classic writers,to love their works. You have to feel the English breath! Learning only the vocabulary or sitting 1-2 hours studying this language and not to feel it's CULTURE...i think it's not enough! And don't forget about the Enlglish History, please)...Thank you very much...

Hi Gunay
I think you're right. When I was learning French at school, I went on a language exchange. It really helped me. I got lots of speaking practice and also, it made the language real (if that makes any sense). I think that the internet offers some of the same things as visiting a country - there are lots of practice opportunities!
