Who are the players?

Samuel Eto'o has won over 100 caps for Cameroon and is Cameroon's all-time leading goal scorer, with 55 goals. He plays as a central striker and has scored over 200 goals in Spain, Italy, Russia and England. He has won league titles and the Champions League in Spain (Barcelona) and Italy (Inter Milan). He has been African Player of the Year a record 4 times. In his first season with Chelsea, Eto'o has already delighted the fans by scoring a hat-trick in a 3-1 win against Manchester United.

David Luiz has won more than 30 caps for Brazil and is his country's vice captain. He plays as a central defender, but can also play in midfield. Luiz has won the league title in Portugal with Benfica and has won the FA Cup, Champions League and Europa League with Chelsea. Luiz and Brazil won the 2013 Confederations Cup, which many see as practice for the World Cup, by beating Spain 3-0 in the final. Luiz made a miraculous defensive clearance in this match.

How important are the players to their national teams?

Samuel Eto'o is the star of this Cameroon team. He is a big game player, having scored in two Champions League finals and will be looking to add to his international goal scoring record. Cameroon fans will be relying on Eto'o to score the goals to get them out of this difficult World Cup group. There is only one other player in the current Cameroon squad that has scored more than 10 international goals, so the pressure will be on him.

David Luiz is first choice central defender for Brazil and will be in direct competition with Eto'o as the Cameroonian tries to score against him. Luiz is a traditional Brazilian defender, he likes to dribble with the ball and he is very comfortable in possession. He also likes to shoot and can take a great free kick, he has scored 6 goals for Chelsea, although he hasn't scored for Brazil yet.

Brazil have many good players, so maybe Luiz is not as important to the Brazilian team as Eto'o is to Cameroon, but he would be difficult to replace in defence for Brazil.

Do they have any weaknesses?

Both Eto'o and Luiz are world class players, so there are very few weaknesses. But Eto'o will be 33 at the World Cup and he is not as quick as he used to be. Luiz can sometimes lose the ball in dangerous positions on the pitch, as he often tries to bring the ball out of defence.

What is our prediction?

Brazil are strong favourites for this match. Brazil are the seeded team in the group (Mexico and Croatia are the other 2 teams) and have home advantage, so it is very difficult not to see them beating Cameroon. Despite this, there is always a chance of a surprise; at the 1990 World Cup, Cameroon beat World Cup holders Argentina 1-0 in a group match and went all the way to the quarter-finals.

We predict that David Luiz will help Brazil to a 3-1 win, with Eto'o scoring a consolation goal for Cameroon.
