Everton
Everton
Everton Football Club was founded in Liverpool in 1878. The club was one of the founding members of the Football League. They played at Stanley Park for a few years before they moved to a brand new ground at Anfield. Everton stayed there for ten years before moving to Goodison Park which has been their home ever since. Goodison Park was the biggest football ground in the country when it was built and has staged more top-flight football matches than any other stadium. Today, it can hold 39,414 fans.
Factsheet
- Stadium: Goodison Park
- Stadium Capacity: 39,572
- Location: Liverpool
- Founded: 1878
- Nickname: The Toffees
- Manager: Sean Dyche
- Kit: Blue shirts, white shorts and white socks
In the late 1800s, there was a sweet shop that made special toffee mints to sell to the football fans on their way to the stadium. You can still buy 'Everton mints' today and Everton's nickname is the 'Toffees'.
When Everton play at home, they wear blue shirts and black shorts. Their club badge has a picture of Prince Rupert's Tower which was built in 1787 in Everton. The tower was built to be used as a lock-up which was a little jail for criminals accused of minor crimes.
Everton have won 9 league titles, only Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal have won more league titles than Everton in the history of English football. But, Everton’s last title was in 1987 and the highest they have finished in the Premier League is 4th, in 2005. Everton have also won the FA Cup 5 times, the League Cup twice and have won 1 European trophy. Everton’s most successful time in modern football was in the mid-1980s when they won 4 trophies.
Everton was a small village a long time ago but is now part of the city of Liverpool. There is a strong rivalry between Everton and Liverpool football clubs, but the rivalry is mainly friendly. ‘The Merseyside Derby’, which is the match between Everton and Liverpool is sometimes called ‘The Friendly Derby’. In the past, it was common for friends, neighbours and relatives of the two teams to watch the ‘Derby’ together.
If you live in Liverpool, you have to decide who you support. There aren’t really parts of the city that are devoted to one team rather than the other. You’ll find just as many Everton supporters living close to Anfield (Liverpool’s ground), as there are Liverpool supporters living near Goodison Park (Everton’s). Most often it’s just down to whether someone’s parents, siblings or grandparents support Liverpool or Everton.

The most beautiful derby is Merseside derby. All the fans are passioned and loyal. Still, I have never seen hard scenes. I only heard football chants and saw beautiful choreography. This is an example of how derby should be like. Can't wait to see the next Merseyside derby!

Something is wrong with 6. question in QUIZ tab.
In my modest opinion, you could replace this question with another one, because I think that 6.question has not nothing similar with Everton fan page.

You're welcome.
I think that again crept error. Everton last season was qualified for the Europa League and not for World Cup as set out in the answer of the 6. question.
Sorry for interupt.

Thanks. I must be tired :) I think the last team from the Premier League to qualify for the World Club Cup was Chelsea but they lost to Corinthians from Brazil.
