Writing a Film Review
This is the lesson where you put everything together. We want you to write a review of a film. You will see two examples of film reviews which you can use to help you write your own review. When you’ve finished your review, post it in the comments section and read other participants reviews and tell them what you think. In lesson one we looked at film vocabulary, in lesson three we gave you some advice about using film to improve your English and gave two short reviews of films about football, in lesson four we focussed on the passive which is a common form to use when writing about films, and in lesson six we showed you some websites where you can read lots of film reviews. While you are writing your review, you can go back to these lessons for some help.
What should I include in my film review?
It's up to you! Here is a list of some common things that you see in film reviews. Have a look at the Bend It Like Beckham film review and match the five colours to the things in this list. Is there anything extra included in the review? Is there anything missing?

- The audience. Who is the film for?

Bend it Like Beckham – Brilliant and Funny!
How can I describe Bend It Like Beckham? If I had to choose a genre, I would say it’s a romantic comedy-drama sports film!
The film was made in 2002 and directed by Gurinder Chandha who is well-known for films which explore the lives of Indians living in the UK.
The film is set in London and stars Jess (Parminder Naghra), who is an 18-year-old girl with Indian parents. One of the main storylines is the tension between Jess, who loves football, and her parents, who don’t allow her to play.Jess’s friend and teammate, Jules, who is played by Keira Knightly (Pirates of the Caribbean) encourages Jess to play despite her parent's wishes.
The film deals with serious social problems such as sexism and racism, but the film is very funny at the same time! The acting is very good and of course, there is a happy ending! Oh, and David Beckham is in the movie, but you must wait until the end for that!
I would give Bend It Like Beckham four and a half stars out of five and definitely recommend you watch it!

Fever Pitch – Funny, dramatic and a perfect finish!
I love football and I love films, so Fever Pitch was the perfect movie for me. It tells the story of a school teacher who is mad about his football club – Arsenal! The film was made in 1997 and is based on a best-selling book of the same name. The film has also been remade for American audiences based on baseball.
The main role is played by Colin Firth (Paul) one of the UK’s most famous actors. Paul falls in love with a new teacher (Sally) at his school during the 1989/90 football season, one of the most important seasons in Arsenal’s history. The plot follows the ups and downs of Paul’s romance with Sally and the fortunes of Paul’s football team. But who does he love more? Sally or Arsenal? You’ll have to watch the film to find out!
There are strong performances by Colin Firth and Ruth Gemmell (Sally) in this romantic comedy-drama. If you are a football fan you will love this film, but it definitely has a wider appeal, too! I will give it five-stars and not just because I’m an Arsenal fan!

Little Manhattan (The ABC of Love) is a film produced by 20th Century Fox, directed by Mark Levin, with a screenplay by Jennifer Flackett, music by Chad Fisher of the romantic comedy genre, it was released in the United States in 2005.
Its protagonists are the actors Josh Hutchinson, Charlie Ray, Bradley Whitford, Cynthia Nixon, Tonye Patano, John Dossett, Talia Balsam
The film was filmed in the Upper West Side area of Manhattan, in New York City, Gabe (Josh Hutcherson), a ten year old boy, decides to start taking karate classes. Take that course because he is afraid that a boy from his school will hit him. There he meets Rosemary Telesco (Charlie Ray), a girl he has known since daycare. However, after being named Rosemary's karate partner, everything changes for him as they begin to spend time together and he falls completely in love with her. She lives with her parents, upper class, on the edge of Central Park. Gabe lives with her parents, about to divorce, until the divorce process is completely finished. When their relationship progresses, Gabe begins to question what is happening to him and the reason why he falls in love with Rosemary. When things seem to go perfect, Gabe's world suddenly collapses. He discovers that Rosemary will be traveling to a camp in a few days and does not return until the end of summer. And that a new boy has arrived at the karate class called Tim Staples whom Gabe associates with Ashton Kutcher; This boy has "stolen" his love. As time goes by, Gabe tries to approach Rosemary. But it ends up getting frustrated and that makes them distance themselves. When he collides with what love really is, he receives advice from his father whose marriage has failed because of things that were not said. Aware that she will be away for a long time, Gabe goes in search of Rosemary to declare her love. He arrives at the marriage of Rosemary's aunt, she approaches him and he takes the opportunity to declare his love. She tells him that she is not mature enough to be ready for love, but that she is really happy that it came. She invites him to dance and Gabe accepts. As the dance progresses Gabe realizes that they are different people who are going to take different directions. When he returns home, he finds his parents laughing about their honeymoon experiences. Surprised at the same time, when his father tells him that he has "taken some old things out of the basement". They go out to eat together like a typical happy family.
On the other hand, the most curious of the recording of it is that the actress Charlie Ray grew so fast during the shoot that in several scenes Josh Hutcherson had to stay on top of a box to maintain the same height.
In conclusion, the film leads us to have a moving and tender story that shows some of the facets and problems of leaving behind childhood and face the knowledge of our own being and evidence much of our first love as well as that unpleasant stage of not interacting with girls at our young age, causes different emotions to see the film because we feel identified and can transport ourselves in time to situations that only remain in our mind and will never come back.

Life is Beautiful is a film with a great positive message that presents a vision that Guido always had and transmitted to his son Giosa despite the situation that he lived during the Nazi era as well as the atrocities that were committed against the Jews and the holocausts. .
Despite the reality that was experienced during World War II, the film is presented as a drama or tragicomedy that shows that having a positive attitude and listening to those around us can totally change our way of thinking, seeing things and to face the problems This is what can be considered as something negative in what I like most about this film, that all that I need ahead is the happiness and innocence of his son and not to disturb her.
Guido lives in pre-fascist Italy and presents himself as a good person with a dream: owning his own book store. One day he meets Dora, a young teacher from the local school. Des-fortunately, the woman, who calls Princess, is engaged and, worst of all, her boyfriend is a fascist officer with whom Guido has another problem. However, Guido does not give up and seduces Dora.
Years later, Guido and Dora are married and have a son: Giosue. In addition, Guido is the owner of the book store he dreamed of so much But now Italian citizens have to accept order, something to which Guido is opposed, especially considering that he is a father. I could recommend this film for fans of pop culture of the 80s for its great bond and inpiracion at this time. I'm sure they'll be thrilled with the plot as it is one of Steven Spielberg's latest projects which are legendary in the seventh art.

It is a Mexican film that premiered on October 27, 2017 (Mexico), its production was by Darla K. Anderson, a film of genre Animation, dramatic comedy, fantasy, which was very famous for being so beautiful and leaving a great teaching.

The very first line in Illegal Aliens is “Build a fence!” I think this is a perfect way to describe exactly what type of film Illegal Aliens is. It summarizes its intention, what it is mocking, and they style of humor throughout.I am a huge fan of the mockumentary. Some feel that after The Office, Parks and Recreation, and other mockumentary style TV shows that it is a style that is now overused. I wholeheartedly disagree! In fact, I feel that Illegal Aliens fits perfectly as an episode of Parks and Rec, and I mean that in the best way possible. I think the jokes per minute and satire were just as high.It’s crazy to think that a 10 minutes film can pull off two twists, but Illegal Aliens pulls it off. I kind of expected both of them based on how the film was being presented, but I still enjoyed the way they were portrayed.
I feel very strongly that the film was able to mock both sides of the illegal immigration argument. I feel it kind of hammered a little harder on the anti-immigration advocates, but overall it kept a pretty level balance.
The length,I know this is what you get with a short film, but I really wanted to see more. I wanted to see before the film when the immigrants first arrived and then stayed after the council meeting as well. I think this is a really solid show idea if they can figure out some more scripts. and the ugly, Nothing The movie was overall really good and I enjoyed watching it.

Since I memory I love movies especially the romantic movies or drama so to speak, is my favorite genre, likewise I have always been struck by this kind of old movies to describe it in some way, I love history and I think there's nothing better than combining my two favorite things in a movie.
The plot basically deals with the arrival of the rich and handsome Mr. Darcy to his region, the lives of the family Bennet and especially his five daughters turn upside down. Pride and social distance, cunning and hypocrisy, misunderstandings and hasty judgments lead their characters to scandal and pain, but also to understanding, knowledge ... they can you overcome all the problems and discover TRUE LOVE?
As most people know,this movie is based on a book titled with the same name "Pride and Prejudice", I watched the movie before reading the book, although I liked the story and the movie itself, I looked one and at it and again, but I had not had the opportunity to read the book,until recently that we read for English class, I did not think that the story or the plot itself could get me to like it even more, but I was very wrong ...

I love this movie plus its two sequels, it's my favorite movie from childhood until now, so my inspiration came from basketball and dancing.

Mia Hall thought that the hardest decision She would face in her life would be to go in search of her musical dreams at the prestigious Juilliard school or to follow a different path with the love of her life, Adam. But what She did'nt know was that what was supposed to be a quiet family outing by car would change everything in an instant. It is the story of Ted Wiggins which tries to attract the attention of a girl looking, what in that time is scarce, a tree this child goes every day to visit a stranger and listen to his story about how they became extinct and how they came to point of selling the air by scarce of this; the desidido to platnar a tree goes on a daily basis when finally its time arrives it silver in the centrp of the city so that all get involved and although hibo an adversity in the way the achievement to convince the citizens.
This is a story that tells us the importance of the environment in a fairly direct way and shows us a very unwanted future although in real life it would be more terrifying than that.
It is pretty creepy to think that we could reach that point and that is why the reason and criticism of that film towards the current society and its avuso of the non-renobable resources. Not only this directed children but people of all ages to take consiencia of what is happening and can happen to our planet but do not take care and remedy the damage caused by previous generations I give this movie a 5.0 since I think it has very good effects and a great edition and most of all a good teaching for young children and adults.

I like to read stories that contain a change of life in its protagonists, I usually read the books of the movies that I like the most and this story written by Federico Moccia is one of my favorites. Seeing it on the big screen is something exciting, this movie has been very famous all over the world, it belongs to the genre of drama and romance. It was carried out in the year 2010, creating in the young public a great wear for the events and spaces that it presents.
Directed by Fernando González Molina, the plot revolves around two characters that are the protagonists of this story: Hugo Olivera "Hache" (Mario Casas) and Barbara Alcázar "Babi" (María Valverde). She is a high society girl, educated and capricious, but decided to have overprotective parents and he is a rebellious, impulsive and irresponsible boy, fond of motorcycle racing. The events take place in the city of Barcelona, where the chronicle of this love will teach us many things about life and feelings. Will you have a happy ending to fairy tales? Look at it and you will know!
This film has been nominated for the Goya Awards and the Silver Frame Awards and won the Capital Awards and the Melilla Film Week. Also it obtained a great acceptance in the Spanish public, turning it into the highest grossing film of the year. The movie is haunted in Los Angeles California and is inspired by the life of the American gymnast Ariana Berlin.
Ariana Berlin is a semi-professional gymnast with many dreams to fulfill, after having a car accident with her mother, the doctor tells her to forget gymnastics, although she does not believe what the doctor is saying. At the beginning of the rehabilitation, she finds it hard to believe that one day she will be able to do gymnastics again, until the day she meets with her physiotherapist (Michelle), although she starts a slow rehabilitation because Michelle asks her for help with her dance group, from there he begins to recover his confidence. I really like movies about gymnastics and I really like the issue of physical rehablititation, that is why I chose this movie to review and after these I have seen it many times.
The movie is called Full Out which refers to the most important jump in gymnastics.
The movie was released in 2015 and directed by Sean Cisterna, is a youth drama movie.
The Olympic dreams of a young gymnast are ruined when she suffers a debilitating injury.
The movie is haunted in Los Angeles California and is inspired by the life of the American gymnast Ariana Berlin.
Ariana Berlin is a semi-professional gymnast with many dreams to fulfill, after having a car accident with her mother, the doctor tells her to forget gymnastics, although she does not believe what the doctor is saying. At the beginning of the rehabilitation, she finds it hard to believe that one day she will be able to do gymnastics again, until the day she meets with her physiotherapist (Michelle), although she starts a slow rehabilitation because Michelle asks her for help with her dance group, from there he begins to recover his confidence. Starting from this, my evaluation is an 8.5 and 70%. I hope that you go to watch it and enjoy it !!!

When I was in the school I just to bring to my classes my dad's video camera, he didn't notice that I did it, so since this moment something inside of me told me that I wanted to be a filmmaking, different things really catch my attention but especially someones about nature, animals, and the wildlife this is why I am going to tell you about one of my favorites movies Jurassic World.
At the beginning of the plot three years after the Jurassic World theme park was closed down, Owen and Claire are organizing an expedition to save dinosaurs and they return to Isla Nublar to save them when they learn that a once dormant volcano on the island is active and is threatening to extinguish all life there. Along the way, Owen sets out to find Blue, his lead raptor and discovers a conspiracy that could disrupt the natural order of the entire planet. Life has found a way, again. What is going to happen next?
This film is a rebirth of the first part. It is very amazing because it is really hard to make 3D models of dinosaurs and the volcano. The actors perform well, too but I considered that the time of the dinosaurs on the screen wasn't enough, the dino fans really need to see these animals close to the screen, see how to they are still alive for some minutes in our mental world because they are the real starring of the film and we deserve to feel them closer breathing to our face.
I really advise you to see this film because it is interesting and sometimes spooky, but the combination makes the best films.

The film is set in Bruges (Belgium) and India, star PK (Amir Khan), in the titular role with Jaggu (Anushka Sharma) Boman Irani, Saurabh Shukla and Sanjay Dutta in pivotal roles.
The movie inquisitive as well as philosophical. After landed to earth Pk does not know how to speak human language. As a result he faced many challenges in dealing to understand how human world work including some taboos. Sanjay Dutta thought he is sexually who usually wants to touch hands of women. Then, he took him to a brothel where he learnt Bojpuri within a night.
One of the main storylines is that PK's quest to retrieve the remote, questions religious dogmas and superstitions. In doing so he found the inexplicable rituals of religions and how each religion invests by making fool of their followers. But from his point of view if there is a God, he must be equally accepts by all religions. But that is not making sense from PK perspective. Moreover, he learnt wearing a dress as well, being an alien to this earth. He felt very different from his aliened country and the earth. The film is very true how religion plays an important role in our society but the film is very funny, at the same time. The acting is superb and of course, there is happy ending by meeting Jaggu with her intended husband. Then, PK with his remote could return to his alien land.
Moreover, Jaggu, a TV reporter who helps him. But she is is a follower of Hindu got tension with her parents for proposing a Muslim man whom she wanted to marry. But her father being a close follower of Godman predicted the Muslim man will deceive her.
The film is very logical inquiry of understanding religion. I would give PK five of five and definitely recommend who is interested in society, religious philosophy.

Eddie the Eagle was released in 2016, but I watched it during the 2018 Winter Olimpycs! The film was fascinating and very impressive!
Eddie the Eagle is based on a true story, it is about Eddie Edwards (played by Taron Egerton), the notoriously tenacious British underdog ski jumper who charmed the world at the 1988 Winter Olympics. Eddie the Eagle – Do you need motivation? Watch it!
Eddie the Eagle was released in 2016, but I watched it during the 2018 Winter Olimpycs! The film was fascinating and very impressive!
Eddie the Eagle is based on a true story, it is about Eddie Edwards (played by Taron Egerton), the notoriously tenacious British underdog ski jumper who charmed the world at the 1988 Winter Olympics. He never stopped believing in himself and with the help of a rebellious coach – played by Hugh Jackman, one of the most charismatic actor I have ever seen – he started to realize his biggest dream…to be an Olympian. Frank is an retired blind militar living a monotonous life with his relatives. In the day of thanksgiving, his relatives will travel and Frank hire a student (Charlie) to pass the weekend to carefull him. But in fact Frank have a plan to pass an amazing weekend in the New York city.
For this movie Al Pacino won the oscar of best actor in 1993. Beside that, Scent of a Woman won the golden global for best drama film, actor and script in 1993.
In summary the film tell the history of a retired militar that have a dream to realize in live. The film is amazing and in the end Frank and Charlie will have been a live lesson. The script is very good, the interpretation of Al Pacino is wonderful.

Yes there were dialogue about fire.Tom Hanks was constantly trying to light a fire, and after a lot of unsuccessful attempts, he finally succeeded.After that he was delighted and he shouting fire.
Interesting question.I think that desert island is something like empty,waste place,an area where there is very little rain and not many plants.Deserted is an adjective and means there are no people in it.Could you tell me what is the difference?

Yes, a deserted island means nobody lives there but I think it also gives you the idea that there used to be people on the island. The island is now deserted. A desert island probably could have a few people on it but not many. A desert island, for me anyway, is in a tropical place. There are many deserted islands or uninhabited islands off the coast of Scotland but I would never describe them as desert islands! I think it's open to interpretation a little.

I saw it on television few days ago. I was surprised because I have known almost nothing about it before.
First of all, the actress, Isabelle Hupper is one of my favourites. She had as usual a great performance. His partner is a somehow common comedian. The director, Fitoussi is his name, I am not very familiar with him since he is young and I am more used to classical masters. He had made the movie in 2003.
' La ritournelle ' can be listed as a romantic-comedy. A married couple around fifty years each saw their children becoming adult and leaving the home. The mother is being upset as well as the father. They both work as cow farmers. Hupper is sick in her mind as well as in her body with some red marks on her neck.
She will no longer can stay with her husband nor heal her neck.
We watch her trying some new relations which do good for her mental spirit. Every time she goes out for a new friendship there is a delightful little music ( ' ritournelle' ) which brings happiness and youngness to her.
Happy end however for the couple when they decide together for a trip to Israel as recommended by a Danish man she met when she escaped away from home.
