This collection of research papers is an outcome of two Regional Hornby Schools hosted by the British Council in Abuja, Nigeria in 2014 and 2015. This collection of case studies aims to share some experiences in promoting positive attitudes and thinking around specific needs. It also aims to describe teaching and classroom management strategies to create an inclusive learning environment and positive experience for English language learners with specific needs.

This teaching pack is based on materials developed by the British Council in co-operation with the BBC World Service. Creative Ways, a series of six radio programmes, was inspired by the British Council’s 15th Oxford Conference on Teaching Literature Overseas held in 2000. The theme of the conference was ‘From Critical Reading to Creative Writing’ and some of the key ideas that emerged were developed by the programme series.
