English Language Assistant Manual

Written by Clare Lavery and published in 2001, The Language Assistant Manual is a guide and handbook for novice English language teachers taking their first steps into the classroom. Since the inception of the language assistants programme in 1904 many thousands of young people have benefited from this unique opportunity to spend an academic year in a foreign school.

Equally, the students and teachers in the schools abroad have gained much from the presence of an English language assistant in their midst.

This resource book has been specially designed and is practical and easy to use. There are 12 units which are packed with advice and ideas. These are divided into 4 modules:

Module 1 - Administration and management
Module 2 - Spoken English
Module 3 - Teaching Aids
Module 4 - Content and resources
