Lucy discusses how the team found that teachers are sometimes uncomfortable about the way technology is changing classroom dynamics. She suggests that through dialogue with learners, teachers can develop a meaningful, pedagogical approach to using these new teaching technologies. The guide provides support with this in the form of a planning tool to help teachers exploit mobile learning and mobile pedagogy to the full. In addition, Lucy offers some useful teaching ideas on how to use mobile phones effectively for various aspects of teaching, such as assessment, encouraging rehearsal and reflection, and measuring progress.

Lucy mentioned a couple of things in the interview, such as having students use real world apps which are not language learning apps, this is something I have been doing for quite a while now.A great example of this is Umano http://umano.me/, Umano is a site and app which uses articles from various sources (NY Times, Mashable, Forbes, Washington Post, etc ) and allows you to listen to them and if you wish read them at the same time, this really helps with pronunciation as well as listening and reading development and comprehension. The second item which I think is great and something I have also been doing for a while, which is allowing students to use mobile devices in the classroom to translate vocabulary and find answers to grammar/other questions for themselves, as a teacher I don't think it takes away from my teaching nor does it make me redundant. I think it empowers students to compete with each other ( competition is also really motivating for students ) to find answers quickly and it challenges me to create better content, which they not be ble to answer usng their phones. Also it is not really any different from having them use a traditional dictionary.I believe so long as the student are learning, it doesn't matter where that infomation comes from and that when they discover something for themselves, they retain the information more easliy.I do however know that many teachers and teaching establishments are very much against it and want me to ban the use of devices in my classroom and punish students who break the rules, but I strongly believe its important in todays classrooom to include devices.I believe in motivating and empowering students is a better approach for my students rather than punishing them for taking their phones out and trying to consolidate the learning in their own way.
