She will also look at what else the teenagers are learning, apart from English, by communicating with their peers from around the world.

The comments and discussions that users have created are now an authentic and rich resource which can easily be used by teachers in the classroom to create discussion and generate meaningful language practice. The session will end with some suggestions and ideas of how teachers can use the comments written by our teenage users in the classroom.

LearnEnglish Teens is the British Council’s website for learners aged 13-17. As well as offering a variety of free learning materials which have been especially created for this age group, there is also an active online community of 26,000+ teenagers who use the website to put their English into practice and to interact online with other users.

Jo Budden is the Website Editor of the LearnEnglish Teens website. She has worked for the British Council since 1999 and has taught children and teenagers in Hong Kong, Egypt, Brazil and Spain. She is the author of Teen World, a resource book of communicative activities, and co-author of Interactive, a four-level coursebook for teenagers, all published by Cambridge University Press.
