The British Council has commissioned market research into the size and nature of the English language teaching market in Europe 2025 and beyond. The research focuses on seven countries: France, Greece, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Romania and Spain. It seeks to understand the impact political, economic, demographic, educational, social, technological and digital changes will have on the teaching and learning of English in these markets. Will quality improvements in state education systems result in high school students leaving school fully competent in English? Will technology reduce the need for classroom English language teaching? In a post Brexit world, will employers still look for English language proficiency skills in their employees?
