This is a full day event with established experts and experienced teachers sharing their knowledge, experience, and tips in a range of sessions to help teachers work effectively, manage their classes, and adapt to new needs and courses.
The conference has a complimentary drinks reception after the final session, kindly provided by Macmillan.
ELT authority and author Scott Thornbury will open the conference and deliver an elective session, and IATEFL president and Business English expert Marjorie Rosenberg will deliver an elective session and the closing address. Highlights include (but are not limited to):
  • A session highlighting the British Council's 'Shakespeare Lives' materials
  • An exam-focussed strand on IELTS, Cambridge FCE and Cambridge CAE
  • Sessions on Safeguarding, from a teacher perspective and from the Copyright Licence Authority to help teachers understand their responsibilities in these areas.
  • An English for Academic Purposes and Business English strand, featuring a Marjorie Rosenberg session on teaching Business English.
  • A Teaching Techniques and Classroom Management strand including a session on dealing with sensitive issues in the classroom and techniques for feedback.
  • Other strands are Pronunciation, Career Development, Materials and Resources, Skills Teaching and the Cambridge Action Research Projects.
