British Council accreditation
Studying at a British Council accredited school means that you can be assured the school has met our high standards. Independent inspectors carry out regular inspections of all our schools, which include checks on teaching, premises and accommodation. The British Council also has an independent complaints procedure to help you in case you have a problem whilst you are studying. British Council accreditation remains valid for:
Students from the European Economic Area (EEA)
Student Visitor Visa (SVV) for English language courses of up to 11 months
Children on short courses (Child visitors)
It is important to find out what type of visa you need in order to be able study in the UK. The application process can take some time so make sure you apply well in advance. The Education UK website provides lots of information on applying for a visa. The type of study visa needed will depend on your age, the length of the course and the level of the course that you want to study.

Education UK agent training programme
The agent training programme has been redesigned and has now been launched across British Council offices worldwide. The programme involves attending workshops, two online modules and a final written exam. It covers the UK education system, living in the UK and visa requirements. Fairs and exhibitions
The British Council attends many language travel fairs and exhibitions each year, and is a key sponsor of English UK fairs. These events are a great opportunity for the British Council to meet with accredited schools and agents on a one-to-one basis. Meeting face-to-face with agents enables us to emphasise that British Council accreditation continues to be valid for student visitor and extended student visitor visas. We also discuss the value of accreditation as quality assurance in ELT, the rigorous inspection process all schools go through, and the benefits of studying and living in the UK.
