Blended learning is an area of ELT that continues to be of interest to practitioners in the field. Despite this, little can be found in the literature on blended learning course design or detailed descriptions provided of blends used in ELT contexts. This publication, which contains twenty case studies from around the world, addresses this deficit by illustrating blends being employed on EAP, ESP, Teacher Development and general EFL courses.

An edited collection of the papers presented at the ELT Conference with the same title in Khartoum, Sudan, March 2010. The conference highlighted the fact that demand from both the public and private sectors for graduates with good English skills is now at an unprecedented level and that the current provision of ELT at university level is in urgent need of reform. The papers focused on the key issues regarding ELT – namely curriculum reform, teacher training, language testing, using new technologies and engaging the private sector.

This Resource Pack provides practical activities for teachers. While primarily for use in Latin America, the pack can be adapted to suit other international contexts, as a tool for understanding other cultures and promoting reflection in order to avoid cultural bias and challenge stereotypes.

This teaching pack is based on materials developed by the British Council in co-operation with the BBC World Service. Creative Ways, a series of six radio programmes, was inspired by the British Council’s 15th Oxford Conference on Teaching Literature Overseas held in 2000. The theme of the conference was ‘From Critical Reading to Creative Writing’ and some of the key ideas that emerged were developed by the programme series.

This 54-page booklet comprises a collection of papers with contributions from leading researchers on global citizenship in language education in several corners of the globe. It provides not only sound theoretical frameworks for investigation but also practical findings for application in diverse segments of ELT, ranging from university environments to public schools and from EFL to ESL contexts.

This 96-page handbook, published in 2009, has been produced for English teachers, by English teachers. It provides you with good practical advice and ideas on how to become more aware and integrate aspects of equal opportunity and diversity into your work.

BritLit has helped teachers from around the world to exploit English literature in the ELT classroom as a language tool. This book brings together a wide selection of useful articles all about the BritLit project.
