This volume is an anthology of twelve selected presentations on the theme of Assessing and Evaluating English Language Teacher Education, Teaching and Learning. This was the focus of the International Conference of English Language Teacher Educators held in Hyderabad, India from 3 to 5 March 2012.
 

The second Primary Innovations Research Seminar in Bangkok, March 2008 was a regional information sharing forum where the results of British Council research were presented. There were also status reports on our projects to support teacher trainers and teachers.

In this session Fiona Dunlop explores ways of identifying what motivates the teachers you manage and how to encourage them to take ownership of their CPD in a way that will benefit not only the teacher but the organisation too. The session covers areas such as developmental observation techniques and focussed action research for teachers.

 

In this webinar, Loraine Kennedy, ELT Consultant, discusses the topic of 'Developing as a manager'. This talk is for academic managers and school managers who are interested in focusing on their own professional development for a change. As busy managers, you spend so much time doing a thousand things every day that time passes by and you realise you have had no time to concentrate on your own cpd (continuing professional development) or career development. This collection of papers is the product of a major, high level conference on language-in-education policy which was convened  by the British Council and took place in Juba, South Sudan, in 2012. Some of the most prominent academics and organisations from across Africa and beyond contributed to the event, and to this publication.

An edited collection of the papers presented at the ELT Conference with the same title in Khartoum, Sudan, March 2010. The conference highlighted the fact that demand from both the public and private sectors for graduates with good English skills is now at an unprecedented level and that the current provision of ELT at university level is in urgent need of reform. The papers focused on the key issues regarding ELT – namely curriculum reform, teacher training, language testing, using new technologies and engaging the private sector.

This publication offers information about all the discussions held in 2012 at the first Policy Dialogues: English for the Future in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia. The proceedings document contains lots of useful information for policy makers and ELT specialists around the world to guide them on the kind of critical elements to take into account when conceptualising or implementing policy on English language both at national and regional/local levels.
